Prolonged fasting is a form of fasting from food for an
extended period of time. Anything more than a day is usually referred to as
prolonged fasting.
There are many benefits to prolonged fasting. One of them we
will touch on today is neurogenesis. Which basically translates to growth and
development of new neurons in the brain.
Studies have shown that fasting can increase the production
of brain-derived neurotrophic factor (BDNF), a protein that plays a critical
role in the growth and survival of neurons. This increase in BDNF can lead to
improved cognitive function and memory.
It is no wonder why there are now
studies being done on fasting for alzheimer’s & dementia.
Moving onto Pythagoras..
Who is he and why am I talking about him in relation to
fasting?
Pythagoras was an ancient Greek philosopher and
mathematician who founded a school in which he taught his followers a wide
range of subjects, including mathematics, philosophy, and ethics.
His contributions to the field of mathematics, have had a significant impact on our world
today.
He’s basically wizard, a highly respected intelligent being.
One of the practices that Pythagoras encouraged among his
students was fasting.
Pythagoras believed fasting was a way to purify the body and
mind, to develop self-discipline and spiritual awareness. He believed that by
abstaining from food, his students could focus better on their studies and
spiritual practices. And it is thought he would require them to fast for up to
48 hours before taking a class.
So, if you want brains & a good body.
Be like Pythagoras, be like the Fasting coach and start implementing
some form of fasting into your life 😀
