One Meal A Day

Typically, the OMAD method is 23 hours of fasting and having a 1 hour eating window.

In this fasting method, you should be trying to consume your full day’s worth of food in one meal.

You can choose any hour of the day to suit you.

For me I prefer to eat right after training in the evening.

I like to get everything done that day I need to, do morning routine, work during the day, then train for an hour or 2 after work. Then break my fast between 6-7 pm.

However not everyone’s day is the same, you might work a night shift, or you may like to do your workout on the morning and then eat afterward.

No 2 persons fasting lifestyles are the same.

I say this all the time – FIT FASTING TO FIT YOUR LIFESTYLE – I’ll talk more about this in another post later.

What are some of the benefits to practicing this method?

Improved insulin sensitivity – As I have talked about before and what you get from most of the fasting methods is, improved insulin sensitivity. For someone who is type 2 diabetic. I urge you to look into fasting. As fasting alongside the right diet can actually reverse type 2 diabetes.

Calorie restriction – If you are trying to be on a calorie deficit, the OMAD method makes this easy. As most people struggle to eat 2000-2500 calories in one sitting.

Burn body fat – through practicing this method, you will start to get into ketosis a lot easier. Your body will start using up your body fat to create ketone bodies to use as energy.

Increased energy – as I talked about in a previous post, the rate of ATP produced is increased. Up to 4 times of that what we would get from running on glycogen/glucose. As a result, we have more energy. Another thing to add here is that the digestive system takes up a lot of your energy in digesting food. When this energy is not being used to digest food, you will now feel like you have an abundance of energy. It is actually thought that the digestive system can take up 30% of your metabolic rate.

Boost in hormones, HGH and TEST – As I talked about in a previous post, when we get into these longer-day fasts, our human growth hormone & testosterone levels increase. There are many benefits to having an increase in both of these hormones. HGH for one is our youth hormone. When we reach around 30 years old, the production of this hormone starts to decline and so we start to age.

Would you believe that I am actually 55 years old! Jokes but I am metabolically younger than I am.

Through living the lifestyle that I live.

Fasting 101.

It’s not a diet.

It’s a lifestyle.
